The 3rd of November…
Yeah, I know that’s not how it goes, but I’m pretty sure that after the votes are counted, parts of the US are going to light up like the gunpowder treason Guy Fawkes planned for all those years ago. If Trump wins, America will burn. If Biden winds, America will burn. Either way, it does not look good for the US.
The attacks are predictably getting worse. Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, is in the middle of some kind of scandal that implicates his father back when he was VP. Russia’s back in the game, and COVID is proving to be a foil in Trump’s side along with his pathological need to tweet harder than a blue-haired SJW who just ran out of ice cream and Xanax.
Hubris seems to be the order of the day on both sides right now. Both the left and the right are sitting back figuring ‘we’ve got this,’ nor realizing that Hilary thought she had it too. How did that turn out? Sure, Biden’s ahead according to some polls, but until the votes are counted it’s not a guarantee. Same for Trump. Some other polls say he’s ahead, and several center/right YouTube personalities also think this. However, NOTHING is guaranteed until the last ballot has been counted. Even then, the screams of corruption and cheating will be heard the world over. I’m starting to think Trump may be the last president of the US. What a way to end a country. 45 presidents and the last one is him. Surely the founding fathers would be facepalming.
Two more episodes of Holy Crap before the election. I’m pretty sure this weekend’s will be dominated by the death of James Randi, but after that, I’m sure it’ll be a ramp-up for the election. To be honest, I’m not looking forward to it because I know where all of them stand and I know who they’ve voted for (Biden). Personally I’d write in Bozo the fucking clown at this point; neither of them deserve the oval office. Trump’s immature and Biden’s incompetent. Just a couple of rich dudes going after a prize for bragging rights. That’s all it is.
Trump seems more content to be on the road doing rallies and working on his stand-up routine. I’ve heard a few of his rally speeches and to be honest, he could be doing improv. He’s whipping up his base, but I’m not seeing a lot of substance behind it these days. A COVID vaccine is in a holding pattern right now as the medical community is trying frantically to invent something. Hell, the world is on pause right now because of this. Guys like Tim Pool talk about his foreign policy and the fact that he hasn’t started any new wars, which I think is a huge plus. However, I think part of that can be attributed to COVID and the fact that no one’s really interested in fighting at this moment in time. Man, why couldn’t it have been an alien invasion that got us to stop? That would have been far cooler.
So, atheism is dead, skepticism is dead, and so-called rationality is dead. We swapped one god for another and re-shuffled the tribes a bit, but nothing’s changed. We’re all still in our bubbles, refusing to listen to anyone not in our tribe, hanging on the words of our chieftains and refusing to think for ourselves because it’s too uncomfortable. I’m no better; I stay mostly silent because I know no one will listen to me, which is why I’m blogging all this stuff. Maybe someday someone will read this and dare to comment, but I’m not that confident in it. I stay silent because I know it won’t change anything. Groups will act the way they will act. Nothing will change that. If they do change, it’s rarely for the better since most changes I’ve seen lately are shifts to an ideological exclusionary shift, while they scream things like ‘equality’ and ‘justice.’
Furries, Trekkies, comic books, movies…all of it. Maturity is gone now, and as the past generations pass on from this world, I fear for what’s left. Knee-jerk reactionaries led around by the snout with promises of replicators and solar power. Global peace and free healthcare if we can just get rid of the orange man.
Y’know, maybe the US deserves to burn. Maybe it’s gone too far. Maybe DC needs to burn like Parliament was supposed to with Guy Fawkes. But what then? Who will unite the nation and make them truly great again? Everyone wants it, but no one’s willing to do the work, so then what?
